We began writing this song in the winter three years ago. Here in western Ma the winters can be very hard to get through. Jeremy and I had been sitting at our neighborhood bar Hugo's discussing how people say so much more than they actually mean or aim to accomplish. People talk big talk sometimes. We ended up thinking how neat a doo-wop style vocal part repeating "say it and we say it" would sound. At the time I was inspired to remind people about the need to express your internal emotions responsibly, to take care of your immediate environment by keeping a stasis between the outside and in. Its very important to relieve building tensions before they get to control you. Likewise one must be able to recognize and seek out necessary warmth when it is not flourishing inside. Bats serve as a guide, as a rep for summers onset, and as a reminder of the dualism that makes life possible and keeps it interesting.
lyrics
Say it and we say it. Say it, say it.
Tricky, tricky tongues come in the absence of worthwhile instrumentation.
Say it and we say it. Say it, say it.
Inner summer Inner summer
So you think you want to make up for your missed interpretations? Give me some of some summer that comes from within. Could you use a chance to cool down after heavy contemplation? Stop. Release the heat of inner seasons.
Bats Bats come this way.
Come this way bats, come this way.
Every bat needs a place, a place to call his home.
Every bat needs some alone time to be alone.
